Dear Mim,          8/29/12

You are truly an inspiration to everyone whose lives you touch.  This morning, while drinking my cup of Joe, I picked up the SRBOBRAN and read the article about your new app for the iPad.  As I read, I couldn't help but smile and shake my head.  Yep!  That's Mim on the cutting edge.  Never retired from learning and always innovating!      ------ Georgia Somma

A Friend, INDEED!  Thank you, Dave Sevick!

How excited I was so see this email Dave Sevick sent out to our North Pittsburgh Macintosh Users Group listserve!  Dave explains the app even better than I do!  I'm so grateful to him for this endorsement!

The POWER OF THREE (3) is a creative adventure into the life of elementary school students through :

--> A Picture Search ( similar to Where's Waldo? ), 9 children and some other treasures are buried in a school yard scene.

--> Librarian ( Miss Karlo ) tells the story of shy student ( Johnny ) and his love of history and reading.

-->    A table team contest about the number "3" ... how many ways can you all used the number "3" ???

--> A visual of how a librarian "works the room" with encouragement and praise.

--> Photo and word matching of 14 examples of words with the number "3".

--> Examples of competitive teamwork among lab partners brings home the synergy if group brainstorming.

--> Shy students working on the team reveal the fruits of collaboration, with personal stories generated from group participation.

--> Team in-fighting and bullying will happen ... but a skilled librarian can redirect those behaviors and keep even the shyest students part of the positive group learning experience.

--> Miss Karlo moves the group to go home and share what you have learned today with your families.  A directive to students to apply what they have learned today.

--> Shy student Johnny becomes a hero, rather than a quiet and overlooked classmate .... helped mostly by having a skilled teacher/librarian with a gentle and encouraging way about her.

--> Next time, let's study the number 5 or 6 or 7 ????

Disclaimer:  Author of this new iPad app is Moon Township resident  Mim Bizic, the librarian for my "3" daughters while attending Edgeworth Elementary in the Quaker Valley School District near Sewickley, PA.  Mim was just as lovely and encouraging as Miss Karlo of this new iPad app.  Congratulations on a great lesson for teachers and fun time for any student.  Mim also serves on the Board of Directors for Computer Reach as the educational leader.

Great job Mim!  And, yes,  I am encouraging Mim to go write yet another iPad app.
